Our Specialized Program

Our distinctive graduate-level program provides both practical new media skills and the leadership expertise needed by successful professional communicators. Our master’s program is new, but it has been built on years of online education experience. Learn more about how it fills the unique needs of working professionals.

Certificate Option

The School of Media and Journalism offers a Certificate in Technology and Communication that includes three graduate-level courses taught online. More information on the Certificate is available at

Certificate applications are reviewed twice per year. Apply online by May 1 for fall admission and by Oct. 1 for spring admission.

The MATC accepts transfer credit from the Certificate in Technology and Communication only. Certificate students who are admitted to the MATC may transfer credit for JOMC 711: "Writing for Digital Media" and JOMC 890: "Digital Data and Analytics." Transferring credit for both courses lightens a student's first-year MATC course load to one course per semester. The credit must have been earned within five years of admission to the MATC.

Students may not earn credit toward the certificate and the MATC concurrently. In other words, certificate students who are admitted to and enroll in the MATC before completing the certificate become MATC students and will not receive the certificate.
